Secondary PFE in Scotland
The programme in Scotland, as part of the 3-18 Curriculum for
Excellence, is cross-cutting and inter-disciplinary, based on the
Experiences and Outcomes for each of the eight curricular
areas.
Underpinning all programmes within Curriculum for Excellence is
the expectation that every teacher is a teacher of Numeracy,
Literacy and Health and Well-being.
PFE is generally delivered through Personal and Social
Development programmes. However, schools are given a PFE
framework to be adapted to local needs - it is up to
individual teachers and schools to decide which elements of the
framework are applicable to particular age groups and classes.
