Secondary PFE in Wales
In Wales, the prominence of financial capability has also been
extended through the revised curriculum. Its teaching is
embedded in a single, non-statutory programme of study called
Personal and Social Education (PSE).
Aspects that relate to individual responsibilities are
highlighted more fully than before in the revised framework for PSE
and the framework now covers 11-19 year olds. Entrepreneurial
responsibilities are embedded in the new framework for careers and
the world of work.
By the end of Key Stage 4, pupils in Wales will have studied the
ethical dimensions of their financial decision-making, how becoming
competent at managing personal finances provides financial
independence, their rights as consumers, their responsibilities as
budget managers, the importance of financial planning and how to
access financial advice.
