Matching your organisation with a school
It's often a good idea to try to partner a school close to your
organisation to avoid long or time consuming journeys for
volunteers. You or colleagues may know of an appropriate school.
The Government positively encourages all schools to create business
links within their community because of the wider opportunities
this affords both students and staff. Schools are usually glad to
hear from businesses and employers willing to invest people, time
and resources to enrich their students' learning experiences, so
don't be shy to approach them.
To help you understand more about the differences between
volunteering in primary and secondary schools, please visit the 'About
education' section. This should help you decide whether to
match your company with a primary school, a secondary school or
even both.
If you're not successful in finding a school yourself, a local
business link organisation, such as EBP (Education Business
Partnership) members of the Institute of Business Excellence, might
be able to help match up employers with schools in your area and
vice versa.
