Online training
If you're an employer hoping to set up a Number Partners
programme or an individual volunteer wanting to prepare yourself
for school visits, this online training will be invaluable. It's
also a useful refresher course for anyone who has been volunteering
for a while.
For schools, there is information on what Number Partners are
expected to know and how they are expected to behave. Schools must
follow their own policies regarding child protection and police or
criminal record checks. We recommend that schools request sight of
both police disclosure of criminal record checks and Number
Partners certificates from all volunteers.
To receive a Number Partners certificate, after completing
online training, volunteers need to register with the
programme. Upon registering, volunteers will receive log in
details and a password to enable them to proceed to the online
self-assessment which should take no more than 10
minutes. Successfully completing the assessment will mean that
volunteers can print their Number Partners certificate. Volunteer
coordinators and the schools may wish to keep a copy on file,
alongside every volunteer's police or criminal record check.

We have split the resources into four main sections:

- Tips for the visit
- Maths

If you are just setting out as a Number Partner, start at the
beginning by clicking on the Preparation tips page and work your
way through. If you have some experience in working with young
people, then click on any of the links to take you to the resources
of interest to you. Alternatively, if you wish to print off one of
the downloadable resources, then go straight to the Downloads page in our
resources section.
Once you have completed the online training for volunteers, you
should log in to take the self-assessment to check that you're
ready. The National Number Partners programme recommends that
all volunteers successfully complete the self-assessment before
visiting schools. A certificate will be available to all those who
have done so.
Alternatively, if you would like to watch our new training
videos, then go straight to the Training Videos page.
